- After striking out at a few stores herself, the writer tapped the "Have AI check availability" button under a store listing in Google's AI Mode in Search Labs. She answered a few questions about the toy and how far she would travel. Gemini then phoned the store using Duplex and identified itself as an AI. She didn't listen in.
- How it went
- About 40 minutes later she got a message confirming Labubu figures were in stock, with pricing and store hours. The toy was being shipped, and she hadn't received it when she wrote.
- Worth knowing
- It's an experimental Search Labs feature for US users, with higher limits for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Businesses can opt out of AI calls.
