Compare Costco bag prices and savings from a jumbled request
The user gave Alexa+ a jumble of requests and it worked out a shopping comparison covering Costco bag pricing and savings.

- What they did
- In the Reddit post, the couple asked Alexa+ a string of loosely related voice questions about basmati versus jasmine rice, prices at Hy-Vee and Walmart, and what bag sizes Costco sells. Alexa+ inferred they were trying to compare store costs, then answered on its own with average prices for 5-pound bags at Hy-Vee, Walmart, and Costco, converting Costco’s 20-pound bags into a per-5-pound comparison and stating the savings.
- How it went
- The result was an easy-to-follow shopping comparison that the poster says vanilla Alexa could not have produced. It was still imperfect: in a comment, the poster says Alexa knew Walmart’s price when asked directly, did not know Hy-Vee’s in that moment, but included it in the later synthesized answer.
- Worth knowing
- The main catch the thread mentions is that this was in the Alexa+ beta, which the poster says was still unfinished and frustrating for some users.
Try it yourself with Alexa+
I have a few messy questions: compare the price of [product, e.g. a bag of coffee] at [store, e.g. Costco] with [other store or size], work out the cost per [unit, e.g. ounce], and tell me how much I'd save buying [quantity]. Give me a short comparison with a clear recommendation. Don't add anything to my cart or buy anything without asking me first.
