Book tickets, rides and services via Alexa+

A reporter linked OpenTable, Ticketmaster, Uber and Thumbtack to Alexa+ for booking, but found it beta-like, error-prone and sometimes not hearing them.

Done withAlexa+

What they did
During Echo Spot setup, the reporter accepted the Alexa+ beta invite and ticked OpenTable, Ticketmaster, Uber and Thumbtack, then granted each service's permissions one by one. She did not try any bookings in this installment. She tested built-in tasks instead: calendar, remembering a number, summarizing a forwarded email, and price tracking.
How it went
Alexa+ came across as beta-quality. It cut her off mid-request, misheard her, read out a saved number wrongly, picked only 3 of 12 important dates, and sometimes stayed silent. Booking tests are deferred to a later installment.
Worth knowing
Permissions are granted service by service, which the reporter found tedious but useful for seeing what each service requests. She says she could downgrade to old Alexa at any time.

Try it yourself with Alexa+

Help me with [booking, e.g. two tickets to an event, an Uber to the airport, or a plumber visit] on [date and time]. Use my linked [OpenTable, Ticketmaster, Uber, or Thumbtack] account. Before paying or confirming anything, tell me the price and details and wait for my approval.
