Edit a full video in Descript with a Dot
The author had a Dot find footage, build the B-roll edit, add captions and arrange visuals over several review passes, working from his recorded narration.

- What they did
- Matt Paige gave his dot two Instagram videos as style references and a Higgsfield characters clip. His Descript project already held his narration and a launch-film overlay. The dot found official demo footage, built the split opening, B-roll, insets and progressive captions, added logos, and cut excess footage. He reviewed several exports, fixed a call-to-action and an animation himself, and pointed the dot to them as references.
- How it went
- They finished a short-form video. The dot trimmed the project from about two and a half minutes of excess footage and carried his manual changes into matching sections. The narration and creative judgment stayed his.
- Worth knowing
- Give concrete references and say exactly what to copy, such as font, size and placement. Expect several export and review passes, and check details yourself.
Try it yourself with Dots
I recorded narration for a video at [path or link to my narration/script]. Find suitable B-roll for each section, build a first-cut edit in [Descript or my editor], add captions, and arrange the visuals over my narration. Share the draft with a short note on what you chose, then revise based on my feedback; stop when I say the edit is final, and don't publish or export anything without asking.
