Run investment research and track portfolio positions with Claude
A commenter's setup makes research and trade decisions and tracks positions live, while they place orders manually since the AI can't access the brokerage. ·

- What they did
- The commenter built a large Claude project around an investment “constitution,” project instructions, thesis documents, scorecards, kill signals, and other files, then used Claude Cowork with a dedicated local folder containing a mandate, CLAUDE.md instructions, and a trade log. Claude could read the mandate, monitor positions, simulate and propose Robinhood orders, append actions to the log, and schedule earnings-call calendar events; the human still reviewed the slate and confirmed real trades.
- How it went
- They said it made them some direct profit in a small high-risk sandbox portfolio and also improved research for their other accounts. It was not fully autonomous: Robinhood required confirmation for real orders, and they still had to check in every couple of days.
- Worth knowing
- Their live workflow was designed to run in about five minutes per session, but they stressed the setup was extensive and hard to explain because it had been built out over time.
Try it yourself with Claude
I'm uploading my current positions: [list tickers, shares and cost basis]. Research each one using recent filings, earnings and news, and give me a summary of the thesis, key risks, and what would make you reconsider. Finish with a table tracking each position's current value and gain or loss, and an ordered list of decisions for me to make. I'll place any orders myself.
