- Harry McCracken connected OpenAI's Dots agent to his Gmail and Google Calendar, and to Dropbox. Without being asked, it compared a speaking engagement on his calendar with a confirmation email and flagged that the dates differed. It also picked out messages it judged urgent from an inbox full of PR pitches. Dots runs on a cloud Linux computer.

- The date mismatch turned out to be real: the organizers had rescheduled and never told him. Dots also found a freelance author's message that had sat unanswered for weeks, and its sense of what mattered was dead-on.

- Dots is limited to ChatGPT tiers that start at $100 a month, and it needs broad access to your email and calendar to work.
