Grade papers and build lessons with Claude Cowork

A teacher says Claude Cowork saved hours on curriculum design, grading papers, making PowerPoints, and analyzing student grades.

Done withClaude Cowork

What they did
The teacher set up separate Claude Projects for each curriculum, such as GCSE and A-levels, then loaded them with exam-board materials including specifications, past papers, exemplars, lesson plans, PowerPoints, and other class files in a folder Cowork could use. For grading, they scanned student work with names removed, labeled each paper only with a number, and had Claude read it against a mark scheme and exemplars to produce personalized feedback.
How it went
They say Cowork saved them hours across curriculum design, grading, PowerPoints, grade analysis, and differentiation work, and even gave teaching-strategy tips after they uploaded best-practice documents. The main shortcoming discussed was privacy risk, which they addressed by anonymizing student data before upload.
Worth knowing
One catch: getting Cowork running on a new Windows PC took them about half a day because VM and hypervisor settings were turned off.

I teach [grade/subject]. Look at the folder [path to folder] containing [student papers / grade spreadsheet]. Grade the papers against this rubric: [paste rubric or criteria], leaving short written feedback on each, and put the scores in a new spreadsheet with a summary of class-wide trends. Then draft a [number]-slide PowerPoint reviewing the most common mistakes. Stop when the spreadsheet and slides are saved, and don't edit or overwrite my original files.
