Negotiate retention discounts on bills by phone
A voice agent calls service providers, navigates IVR menus, waits on hold and negotiates retention discounts for users, pausing for OTP verification.
Done with a custom-built or unnamed agent
- What they did
- Kudos built a voice agent that phones a service provider for the user, works through IVR menus, waits on hold, and asks for a retention discount. By default it negotiates within the existing plan and only changes plans if the user says they're open to it. When a provider requires an OTP, the agent pauses and the user enters the code.
- How it went
- The co-founder saved $840 a year on T-Mobile after allowing plan changes, and an Xfinity example cut $276 a year. Savings vary and aren't guaranteed; many results are only loyalty discounts.
- Worth knowing
- Tell the agent up front that you're open to plan changes; without that it only negotiates the existing plan, and be present to read out the OTP when asked.

Help me lower my [provider, e.g. internet/phone] bill, currently [amount] per month on account [account reference]. Research current competitor offers and prepare a retention-call script with my target price of [amount]. Do not call or submit anything until you've shown me the script and I approve, and pause whenever the provider needs a verification code.
