Turn trip receipts into an expense report and triage files

The author used Cowork to build an expense report from 47 receipts, pick what to read from 4,992 files and make slide decks via Gamma.

What they did
Ruben Hassid, who says he is non-technical, dropped 47 trip receipts into a folder and asked Cowork for an expense report with categories, dates, vendors and totals. For the 4,992 files from his publisher, he asked what he should actually read and why. For slides, he had Cowork question him on the outline, write the content, then send it to Gamma through its MCP connector.
How it went
The receipts became an Excel file with every receipt logged and totals calculated. Three blurry ones were flagged, and he filled in those cells by hand. He puts the total at about 10 minutes, against 2 hours the old way.
Worth knowing
Cowork needs the Claude desktop app and a Pro plan ($17/month). A commenter reported it was macOS-only at the time. The receipts demo wasn't shown, so that result rests on his word.

I have receipts from [trip or period] in [folder path]. Read each one, extract date, vendor, amount and category, and build an expense report spreadsheet with totals by category. Flag any receipts that are unreadable or missing details. Do not submit the report anywhere, just save it for my review.
